<div>Hi MusicStar. I'm Binoshi Silva. I'll be performing a Hindi cover song for the Grand Finale. So, my story behind the Grand Finale video is very complicated. Actually I didn't have enough time to make a creative video because of my studies. I couldn’t miss my lectures too.. That's why I did my video in a simple way. I cut a lecture and did this video. Not only that, I couldn’t find any photographer to create my video. So, I did it myself using my DSLR camera. Finally, I did it. This is the story behind my Grand Finale video.</div><div><br></div><div>I haven’t studied music as a subject for A/l's. But I participated for all the music events at our school. I also participated for many All Island Competitions and won the 1st place many times.</div><div>I have a dream to become a famous cover singer on YouTube one day and I want to create my own original tracks. I also need to sing  duets with famous singers. The most important thing is, I want to join a good vocal training class and develop my vocal power and vocal range. These are the main dreams that I have related to music. Hope you guys help me to fulfill my dreams.</div><div><br></div><div>I would like to thank my parents and my sister. They are by my side every moment and supported me throughout. I would also like to thank the MusicStar team for giving such an amazing platform for me to showcase my talent. This is the best competition that I ever saw in SriLanka. Thank you Mrs.Umara for your valuable comments and advice. Thank you everyone who voted me and supported me in various ways. I wish that this would be the starting point as the first reality online music competition in Sri Lanka. So,keep it up your good work team TalentStar and I wish all the success on your venture.</div><div><br></div><div>God bless you all!</div>

<div>We are three best friends that share a mutual passion for music since 2010. Being schooled at Musaeus College, we had the opportunity and the platform to play at every school event ever since and we literally watched each other grow with music. We follow various music genres starting from classical and cultural music to heavy metal. We go by the name Singing Potatoes, because that simply describes us. We believe we could make a difference in the music industry and to help diversify the music industry in Sri Lanka. Before introducing you to our final performance, we would like to thank each and every one of you that helped us make it to the Grand Finale and for continuously complimenting and motivating.</div><div><br></div><div>For our Grand Finale performance we chose to do a medley of two songs, Yenga Pona Raasa by A.R. Rahman and Krishna Nee Begane by Colonial Cousins. This was mainly because we wanted to do something different, and us wanting to challenge ourselves and do a 7/8 time signature cover. This cover is a pure production of us as the three of us did the arrangement, singing, playing and to recording the tracks, mix and mastering to doing the video like we did for our other covers. We tried our best to do justice to these two songs.</div><div><br></div><div>MusicStar journey has helped us improve our knowledge and ourselves, especially from the Star Judge Umara Sinhawansa and the fellow competitors. Thank you MusicStar team for continuously following up with us and ensuring that everything is clear and ready. All the best to everyone! MusicStar indeed is a bundle of surprises. Thank you for making the competition more exciting, fair and intense day by day and definitely for making us a part of it.</div><div><br></div><div>Even though the three of us are in three different streams, software engineering, business management & finance and hotel management, we plan to always meet up and do new covers and produce original songs whenever possible because we always make time for music regardless. And definitely because the world needs a small touch of the Singing Potatoes</div><div><br></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol","sans-serif"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol"">Please pardon us if we have made any mistakes. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol","sans-serif"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol"">Cheers!!<o:p></o:p></span></p></div>

<div>When I was a little kid of 8 years old, I started my journey of Music as a Piano apprentice thanks to my parents. As the time went by, I played many roles in Music as a Keyboard player, Singer, Violinist, Tabla player, and currently, a Guitarist!</div><div><br></div><div>School days at Sanghamitta College, Galle were the best days of my music life where I was able to bring glory to my school by contributing for many national level victories in both Western and Eastern Music All Island Inter School competitions. At the age of 16, I could pass Instrumental(Violin) Visharad (final) examination and in parallel, Sangeeth Visharad final exam in 'Hindustani classical singing' with a First Class division, which is the highest passing grade offered by the Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Lucknow. With the intention to broaden & polish my music capability, few years ago I started  studying Western classical music and I am ready to face the Grade 6 - Singing examination of Trinity college, London this November.</div><div><br></div><div>One thing in my life is "certain". That is "my passion towards Music", which never had a break. even though I am a Computer Science graduate from University of Colombo, and a Software QA Engineer by profession, an Athlete holding University Colours, a LEO leader, so on and so on, my never-ending lifetime passion for Music never got buried</div><div><br></div><div>The reason why I chose many languages for the mashup cover I did for the final round of the MusicStar contest is the result of "me, being curious to explore & experiment new things". 'MusicStar' is a remarkable milestone in my music journey. So I must thank the Aspirations team & TalentStar Team for this wonderful opportunity given. Also I must pay gratitude to my friends for their continuous support throughout months and all those who voted me during the previous rounds of MusicStar. Special credit goes to "Tonic Media Productions" and "WhileART studio" for the amazing video and audio productions which I have submitted for this competition. Finally, I must mention that I owe all my music teachers a lot, for as I might not have been the one who I am today if it was not for them.</div><div><br></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol","sans-serif"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Segoe UI Symbol"">'MUSIC' IS NOT JUST A PART OF MY LIFE, 'M-U-S-I-C' IS MY SOUL!!!! <o:p></o:p></span></p></div>

<div>Hi everyone,</div><div>This is my submission for the Grand Finale of MusicStar, an acapella version of Mamma Mia originally sung by ABBA. </div><div>Since it was challenged to come up with a unique and a creative concept for the final, I did some background research </div><div>on current trends. After shortlisting all options, I decided to make an acapella for an the song Mamma Mia. I chose this song because I watched the Mamma Mia 2 movie and loved their version of the song and the energy it represented. Because I love to sing in other languages, I found the Spanish version and thought of mixing the two together.  So my final concept was to make an English-Spanish mixed acapella of </div><div>Mamma Mia song.</div><div>I, alongside with my production team, started on making the track and it seemed pretty impressive at the demo stage, in which we managed to pull out a decent product. After exerting considerable amount of time, yet under 5 days we managed to complete and submit the track. We didn't use any instruments and all the sounds were created by me and my team. It wasn't a simple task but we are really happy with the outcome.</div><div><br></div><div>Ambitions : </div><div>It has been my childhood dream to make it to the music industry because I always wanted to do something that I enjoyed. And another dream that I have is to perform In my school auditorium (Girls' high school, Kandy). In 2017 I came to Colombo for my higher studies and got the chance to get to know Panchala Fernando & Sanjeewa De Silva, who were already paving their way in the music industry. I did some covers and mashups with them. We received some recognition over the mashups. </div><div>I further wish to continue to create unique music, make an influential impact to the society and to make my parents and my country proud by doing what I love.</div><div><br></div><div>Interesting Facts:</div><div><br></div><div>I'm mostly recognized for my ability to sing in different languages. I grew up listening to my mother and sisters sing, who were very talented in singing.</div><div><br></div><div>Credits : </div><div>I would like to give my gratitude towards the people who helped me out during journey of MusicStar. Namely, Sanjeewa De Silva and Kasun Gomis who did the music production, and I wish to convey my heartiest thanks to Panchala Fernando whom spent his valuable time tirelessly with his guidance and directing the whole production in making it a success. Last but not least, my family whom has been an immense strength in every which way. I would like to make this an opportunity to thank the MusicStar Team for organizing an event of this scale and giving the opportunity for musician like us.</div><div>A big thanks to all the followers, supporters and for the people whom voted me through to the finals. </div><div><br></div><div>Cheers!</div>

<div>Hello Music Star. My Name is Kavidu Dilshan Jayakody. I’m 21 years old. I studied at Nalanda College, Colombo 10 and faced A/Ls in Math Stream. I'm interested in both music and tech. My mother is the one who directed me towards music when I was young and that kept me alive in the field of music. When I talk about tech, I'm an undergraduate at Londontec City Campus. As the main profession, I work as an IT teacher. I also work as a freelance graphic designer and a web developer.</div><div><br></div><div>I want to become someone who can do something different in music and tech because my passion lies in those fields. I spend most of my days with my musical instruments and my laptop. In the evening, I enjoy practicing music with my friends. I still cherish the memories where my mother and I sang together. I'm creating my path not only for me, but for my mother as well.</div><div>About the performance, which I posted here for Grand Finale, It’s my own song. This song was written by Bhathiya Wijerathne and Rushan Avishka helped me in videography. Besides, all other tasks such as melody, music, mix and master, video editing and artwork have been done by me. I would like to especially thank my father for his invaluable support and all others who supported me to achieve this success.</div><div><br></div><div>It’s very essential if I can put the meaning of this song here. Because, without meaningful lines of lyrics, the song would be meaningless. According to the writer, the meaning as follows.</div><div>The story of "Vijaya-Kuveni" is a story we all know. We have entertained plenty of songs and stories about that. A lot of creations have emerged about Kuveni's lament and Kuveni's sadness. It also reveals her two children in some creations. Accordingly, most of the creations were based on Kuveni's point of view.</div><div><br></div><div>However, there is an unexpected side here. That is Prince Vijaya. Prince Vijaya loved Kuveni a lot. But finally, he had to banish her from the palace by himself. How much has this affected his life? How sad he was? How did he bounce among the kingship, life, and love? I would like to express my view on this matter. He is a father too. How far had he influenced the expulsion of the two children? Otherwise, Kuweni may be different from other evil things - as a vision of Vijaya's story and the uncovering of another ashes.<br></div>

<div>Hi everyone,</div><div><br></div><div>This is my submission for the Grand Finale of MusicStar, my original song called “Angels”.</div><div>With the greatest pleasure of being selected to the final, alongside with the challenge by judges to do something out of the box, I decided remake a long lost original of my own. This is a song which I wrote way back in 2013 when I kick started doing music. By the time I was so interested in English songs and have been following big names such as Enrique, One Direction, Bruno Mars and Micheal Buble. Artists as such inspired me to do an English song of my own, thus I started writing the lyrics and putting up the melody. After I finished the initial step, I did a rough track with my</div><div>then guitar and the organ, and named it as “Dance Like That”. I was so shy that I will not gain any good comments for the song, I decided to keep any expected critics hidden. Throughout the years I was longing to do the track one day with proper music as a good production, but never had the opportunity to do so.</div><div>After being selected for the final stage of Music Star, my friends suggested that I should remake this track freshly. Hence we started making so, and the music elements gave a good impression. I alongside with my production team managed to finish the production within a week, and I was totally pleased to see my years long expectation becoming a reality.</div><div><br></div><div>Ambitions :</div><div><br></div><div>I gained some publicity when I did a mashup cover for the song Shape of you with Dashmi Wijerathne & Sanjeewa De Silva. I covered most of my musical goals followed by that fame. I hope to continue to make a difference in the local music industry, to put Sri Lanka further into the map in the global music scenario and to influence people in a positive manner.</div><div><br></div><div>Interesting Facts:</div><div><br></div><div>I grew up in an ordinary family and singing was never there in my DNA. Even though I had a manifesting passion for singing and music I was challenged by one of my schoolmates that I will never be able to sing. This struck me hard and I determined that one day I will make my dream a reality. I practiced hard for years, watching tutorials from YouTube and finally brushed up my vocals to the level I currently possess. At that time I was suffering from social phobia. It made everything much harder than it was. Even though I wanted to go to a voice training class, I was held back because of my irrational fears.</div><div><br></div><div>Credits : </div><div>I would like to convey my appreciation towards the people who helped me out in my path towards the final of music star. Kasun Gomis for his magical guitar skills and giving a refreshing outcome for this song which he produced alongside with Sanjeewa De Silva. A massive thanks to Dashmi Wijerathne for her immense support by being the driving force and source of motivation towards my music career and giving her maximum into this production to perfect it beyond my expectation. Last but not least, my parents and siblings for all the support provided behind the scene.</div><div>I would like to make this an opportunity to thank the MusicStar Team for organizing an event of this scale and giving the opportunity for musician like us.</div><div>A big thanks to all the followers, supporters and for the people whom voted me through to the finals.</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers!</div>
